Equipping Ministries
Equipping Ministries
Equipping Ministries exists to provide opportunities for God’s Word to inspire, challenge, and equip women to understand who God is and who they are in relationship to Him. We believe that when we understand these two areas of truth, we are healed of past pain and are moved to minister to the body of Christ where He has gifted us. The Equipping Ministries offers many diverse small groups (meeting at different times and locations, studying a variety of topics), Tool Time Ministry Training Seminars, and the Women of Influence Mentoring Program, which began in August of 2006.
Bible Studies
Tuesdays (9:30-11:30 am) at the church – this semester we will be studying the book of Revelation. Did you know that the book of Revelation is the only book of the Bible that promises an explicit blessing just for reading it and another for acting on it? What a great reason to jump into the study of this book. The study will be led by Barb Larson, and begins on January 3rd. Contact Barb Larson with questions at (303) 513-2267 or barb@heritageefc.net. Cost: $15
***A full children’s program is available for an additional fee for the children of women enrolled in the Tuesday morning studies. However, space is limited.
Wednesdays (9:15-11:15am) Community Bible Study (CBS) – an Inter-denominational Bible Study, at Heritage – The Book of Acts. Students will see the Holy Spirit working through the lives of the apostles and the believers in the early church. This course includes pertinent application for today’s believers and strong teaching on the foundation of the Church – Jesus Christ. Contact Pam Ahlberg (CBS Coordinator) at 303-688-0859 or ahlberg11@msn.com for more information. Children’s Program offers Baby CBS through the Teen Homeschool Core Group. Cost: $25.00 and $10/child with a maximum of $20 per family. Checks should be made out to CBS.
Wednesdays during AWANA (6:30-8:15 pm) Proverbs: Ancient Wisdom for a Postmodern World , by Sue Edwards - In this 9 week study, readers will learn how to fully realize the timeless life lessons contained within the Proverbs. Sue Edwards teaches what these Biblical pearls of wisdom say about daily life, our relationship to our culture, and our relationships with others. Discover the wisdom of God that is revealed to all readers in all times, and how we can live in the light of God’s truth. This book features three levels of study, which allow participants to choose a level of Bible study that works for their lifestyles and schedules. Led by Lynn Robinson and Vicki Salisbury; begins February 1st, Cost: $8.
Mentoring Ministry
Mentoring happens when a seasoned traveler walks alongside someone else to encourage, share experiences, and give God’s perspective as they share the journey of their walk with Christ.
We desire to see every woman at Heritage involved in Christ-centered, caring relationships. In these relationships, we can celebrate milestones, face challenges and grow deeper in our relationship with Jesus – together. In our fast-paced, schedule-driven lives, this doesn’t happen unless we are purposeful about it. Mentoring could provide you an opportunity to develop one such relationship. Mentoring can take many forms. It could be a new mother learning from an experienced mom how to build a Christ-centered family and home (yes, including how to get the occasional shower in during those first few months). Mentoring could also look like one woman helping another face the challenges of major life changes. Sometimes a woman needs to learn to have an impact for Christ at her workplace. Sometimes she needs perspective in navigating her childrens’ teen years. Whatever your life circumstances, God has brought others through similar situations and the example of His faithfulness to them will encourage, strengthen and sustain you. So take a step of faith. Make the investment.
Isn’t it just friendship?
Yes and no. Mentoring is a step beyond friendship. It involves a purposeful commitment to growth and is developed for the purpose of learning and change. Perhaps you have a friend in your life that you’d like to act as a mentor to you. Come to the coffees together.
The opportunity
Mentors – These are women who have walked with Christ for awhile and have turned to Him in the challenges of life. Mentors agree to meet with their mentee twice a month to share life and encourage her in her growth as a woman of God. You don’t need a Theology degree or lots of gray hair to be a mentor, just some experiences on the road of life and an attitude of humility and availability.
Mentees – Do you want to grow? Then this is for you! Do you ever feel like you’re just trudging along in your Christian life? Missing out somewhere on that exciting, faith-filled relationship? Do you desire a friend with whom you can talk frankly about real faith in a real world, about the challenges of relationships, work and just life? God brings growth most often when we are willing to step out in faith, purposefully choosing to make our growth a priority. A mentee needs to be teachable and committed. That’s it. That’s all there is to it!
